Make a difference in our community while making better rowers!

Why you should support me:

I didn’t start rowing until my first semester this year, as a 19-year-old with a background in football, basketball, and baseball. Those three sports were a key part of my life growing up, but after high school, my athletic career had come to an end. I decided that when I left home for college, it was time to hang the cleats up and call it quits, and to focus on my education rather than playing sports. The summer going into college was boring to say the least, I felt that something was missing. Turns out, not being able to dedicate myself to a sport left me lost with what to do in my free time. My competitive spirit needed something to latch onto to keep me going.

At the club fair, there were all sorts of competitive teams, I could have joined the baseball, basketball or football clubs, but I decided I needed something new, something fresh. So, I decided to join rowing, a sport that I was completely unfamiliar with. I feel the unfamiliarity is what made me love it, as I was able to participate in a sport while also getting the feeling of starting square one, a feeling that I haven’t had in a long time. As I continued to row, I got to know my teammates and coaches who made the experience so much fun. I learned to set the boat, how to feather, and I even managed to flip a boat. I haven’t fallen in love with a sport so fast as I did rowing.

At the end of the day, I feel that trying something new in the confines of a sport is what makes me love the sport of rowing so much. The teams, the culture, and history, I love every bit of it. It’s truly amazing to be a part of something so special.
